Another obstacle Chelsea are facing is the fee Atletico would demand. Whether Simeone stays or not, Felix is going to be pricey.
Atletico want back as much of the £111m they spent on him as possible. Todd Boehly has not been averse to throwing his money around since becoming Chelsea owner less than a year ago.
However, would he be able to justify spending a fee as large as that for Felix? Chelsea splashed out £88m on Mykhaylo Mudryk in January, as well as £30m on Noni Madueke.
Chelsea will be well-stocked in attacking positions, especially with Nkunku's arrival. It remains to be seen if there is going to be space for another substantial arrival such as Felix.
