Marcus Rashford has reacted furiously to dismiss claims he is reportedly asking for up to £500,000-a-week wages to extend his Manchester United contract as the Red Devils seek to strike an agreement with their red-hot attacker over fresh terms at Old Trafford. The club confirmed in December that they had triggered a one-year option to extend the contracts of Rashford, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Fred but the board are now seeking to find a long-term solution for their MVP, whose future is likely to be resolved at the end of the current season.
Rashford took to social media to dismiss media reports suggesting he was asking for a lucrative weekly worth up to £500,000 during contract discussions.
The forward tweeted: "Just before this one starts to do the rounds! It's complete nonsense.
"The club and make self have been respectful to one another, and that's how it will remain. My focus is purely on finishing as well as possible in the league and winning trophies."
Rashford has previously made it clear that he intends to remain with his boyhood club but with Paris Saint-Germain lingering in the background, he stands in a strong negotiating position during contract talks with Old Trafford chiefs.
The 25-year-old has struck 27 times in 44 games this season for the Red Devils and now he wants a contract that reflects his importance to the club.
