Manchester United are reportedly set to join the hunt for Brighton midfielders Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister. A range of top Premier League sides are already linked with the pair as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his options in the middle of the park after encountering injury trouble this campaign.
United fans are poised and ready for a striker hunt to unfold this summer, having played the 2022/23 season without a top-class option through the middle. While it will be a key area for Ten Hag to address, reports indicate that the Dutchman has labelled midfield as a 'priority' position.
Casemiro has been sensational since signing from Real Madrid last summer, but disciplinary issues have marred his debut campaign, with two red cards consigning him to seven matches on the sidelines. Christian Eriksen has been similarly impactful, but the Dane has only just returned from a medium-term injury lay-off.
There are murmurs that Scott McTominay could leave Old Trafford at the end of the season amid interest from Newcastle United. All told, midfield reinforcements are likely to be needed before the start of next campaign, and The Telegraph claim that Caicedo and Mac Allister have both made the Red Devils' shortlist.
Mac Allister was reported to come with a £70million asking price in January after his heroic World Cup triumph with Argentina. And while Arsenal's £70m bid for Caicedo was unsuccessful, the suggestions were that Brighton had ruled out a sale midway through the season.
As such, £140m could be sufficient to land both stars this coming summer, providing the Seagulls are given ample time to scout out their replacements. Caicedo recently signed a new long-term deal at the Amex Stadium but United are supposedly preparing for talks to discover whether any agreements are in place that would allow the 21-year-old to leave.
Mac Allister, meanwhile, was another bargain at just £7m from Argentinos Juniors. Both Players have been key for Brighton this season as they push for European qualification, with Roberto De Zerbi's side currently seventh in the Premier League.
The all-action Caicedo has started 26 of the Seagulls' 28 league games this term, notching one goal and one assist, while the more attack-minded Mac Allister has bagged eight league goals in what has been a terrific campaign thus far.
