Man Utd star Christian Eriksen sends ‘revenge’ message to Andy Carroll after brutal injury | Football | Sport

Manchester United star Christian Eriksen has insisted he doesn’t want revenge on Andy Carroll after his brutal injury in January. The Denmark international went down from a tackle by the veteran striker during the Red Devils’ 3-1 FA Cup win over Reading. He missed the Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle, but doesn’t seem to harbour any grudges.

Erik ten Hag and everybody associated with United were livid back in January when Carroll injured Eriksen.

But, when directly quizzed on whether he’d want ‘revenge’ on the former Liverpool striker, the Red Devils’ No 14 insisted that wasn’t the case.

“No, I’m not that type of person,” said the Denmark international to club media.

“Maybe in '99 it was different but no, not that. I don’t have that [little black book], no.

“For me, it was more the thing I was surprised he didn’t get a yellow card or anything like that. 'What is this?' But, no, I'm not in that way [of getting revenge].”

On the incident, Eriksen also said: “Yeah, I felt something.

Goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford made it a straightforward day for the Red Devils at Wembley, with Eriksen then joining in the celebrations.

But the former Ajax, Tottenham and Inter Milan star has revealed he’s still waiting on his winner's medal nearly two months on.

“I haven’t got it yet, no,” said the 31-year-old.

“I’m supposed to get one. I will get a medal at some point. It’s different though when you don't play in the final.

“Obviously [those who played] get it on the pitch, celebrate and do their stuff.

“And there's me limping around in a boot, trying not to do too much. But still you want to be a part of it.”

Eriksen has also opened up on how his move to United came about in the first place.

The Dane left Brentford for Old Trafford back in the summer after his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium expired.

And Eriksen was convinced to join the Red Devils after a phone call with Ten Hag.

“Well I ended up being at Brentford until the summer obviously and the contract was running out,” said the playmaker.

“So I was free to talk to other clubs and I kept my possibilities open.

“At the time, I wasn’t closed down on going back to Brentford, I wanted to see what else came in or [if] something could tempt me away from how good it was there.

"And then, of course, United came in.

“[I was] speaking to the manager on the phone and then I could actually see myself going to United.

“Luckily, they pulled through [to make the move] and I did as well. So, in the end, coming here was definitely very special."
