Puebla head coach Nicolas Larcamón resigns

November 11, 2022

Puebla head coach Nicolas Larcamón resigned earlier this week, despite signing a contract renewal just a few months ago.

“Club Puebla informs that Nicolás Larcamón has decided to leave his position as Technical Director of our first men’s team, in order to suit his interests.” said the club in a statement.

“We appreciate the commitment, effort, passion and professionalism that Nicolás showed throughout the two years he was in charge of La Franja, in which our team managed to consolidate a stability and sporting identity that led us to qualify for four consecutive leagues, in addition to living nights that will remain in the memory of the fans.”

Larcamón departs after leading the club for two years, managing a record of 27W-21L-32D in 80 Liga MX games total. During the 2022 Liga MX Apertura, the head coach inspired Puebla to eighth on the table and the Liguilla quarter-finals before falling to Club America.

He failed to win any trophy during his tenure, coming closest in the 2021 Clausura when reaching the Liguilla semi-final.

The team will now start looking for his replacement.

“The institution is analyzing options to start a new stage and in the next few days we will be reporting the details. The mission is to continue strengthening that identity hand in hand with our people who have remained with the team during its 78-year history,” the club said.

“The last tournaments are a sign that being united, we will continue to grow and keep the name of Puebla in the places it deserves.”

The 2023 Clausura kicks off on January 6.
